SIIT offers all four levels of technical training for the Carpentry trade at trade shops in Saskatoon and Regina, with some levels offered in select community locations. To graduate from each level of the apprenticeship program, an apprentice must successfully complete the required technical training and compile enough on-the-job experience to total at least 1800 hours each year. Total trade time required is 7200 hours and at least 4 years in the trade. Once all levels of technical training are complete, apprentices can challenge the Red Seal Exam and be recognized as a Journeyperson Carpenter Canada-wide. Apprentices and Red Seal Carpenters (NOC 7271) can find employment with construction companies, carpentry contractors, and maintenance departments of factories, plants and other establishments, or they may be self-employed.
