Water Levels And The Cut

Start by filling the vase with water which should cover the base of the stem. It's not necessary but glass vases make for a stunning impact. So, go for a glass/acrylic one. You can also opt for a beautiful wine/whiskey bottle which are showy. Now, fill it up with water. The volume of water is important as too much will make the soft flower stems to deteriorate. Next, trim the stems of the flowers. You can use scissors or a knife to do this. Make sure you cut them at an angle which will ensure maximum possible water absorption. This will make your flowers stay fresher and longer. Make sure that no foliage is dipped in the water. Remove all the leaves and buds below the top of the vase.
