Customizing the Abs on the Go diet to your lifestyle is key. It is very important to remember that none of us fit into a cookie cutter shape when it comes to anything in life. Whether we are talking about learning styles, nutritional requirements, exercise requirements, or anything else, each of us is an individual and must adapt any program to suit our individual needs. This cannot be more true than when it comes to how our bodies respond to a diet. When you introduce a diet to many people, you cannot expect each person to respond the same way.
What really helps my clients is that together we go through what they normally eat each day during the week and then figure out the meals we can switch based on that. If someone is used to eating at a certain restaurant every day, then why not figure out what you should have when you go there.
If you are on the road most of the time and at different places, then your focus should be on food preparation and make sure you have your food prepared a few days ahead of time. The more seriously you take this diet, the more serious the results will be.
The great thing about the Abs on the Go diet is that it can be modified to suit the individual. However, there is one rule to follow before you attempt any modifications:
You MUST follow the diet to the T for the first two months!
During the first two months, your body will be going through the metabolic shift and, other than increasing or decreasing caloric intake, you must follow the basic schedule. However, after the first two months, you can have some fun.
Yes, I said FUN! It can be fun to shape and mold the diet to see how your body responds and takes shape. There are several modifications that you can make to the diet that may make a difference in how it affects your body.
Keeping a written record of how your body responds to the diet in its original form and with modifications is fundamental. This is essentially keeping a journal of the Abs on the Go diet and how it affects your body. Journaling is healthy and useful in a variety of situations and it is a tool that can be used to track your progress, find out what works, what doesn't, and to see how far you have come. I highly recommend you do it.
