Conclusion

I have given you a lot of information in a small amount of space and time. Here is the most important thing that I want you to take from this book:

The Abs on the Go Diet is a LIFESTYLE!

That’'s right. Don’'t let the word "diet" fool you. This is not about doing this for the short-term or just to get by until you find the next fad. This is not about fads at all. The Abs on the Go diet is a way of life that will help you achieve an ultimate level of health safely, effectively, and without the stress that can come from true diets.

There is something else that the Abs on the Go diet will do for you. It will help you learn the skill of setting goals and reaching them. It doesn’'t matter what area of your life we are talking about. If you can set goals and work to achieve them, then you will always succeed.

I couldn’'t imagine not having goals and I am astounded by how many people don’'t have them. In fact, this is probably the most important part of the whole diet.

Most people go, “"yeah, yeah,”" and skip this part, but if you’'re taking this seriously, you must choose a goal. Once you reach your goal, this diet becomes easy to integrate as a lifestyle because of our regular Monday to Friday routine.

Pick a body fat percentage you would like to be and post it on the wall or by your tooth brush in the morning so you can remind yourself that you need to be disciplined with your regime each day. I did this when competing for the Canada’'s and I continue to do this today.

Goal-setting is about self-discipline and living life on your terms. It is about knowing what you want in life and achieving it. Goal-setting is a skill and anyone can learn how to do it. Here are a few tips when it comes to setting goals.

  • Write it Down - This is the most important part of goal-setting. The most successful people in the world write down their goals. When you write down your goals they become lodged in your subconscious and it is your subconscious that dictates what you do. If you do not commit your goals to paper, you will be unlikely to reach them.
  • Determine Your Starting Point - Imagine being dropped in the middle of nowhere, not knowing where you are, and then being given a map and being told to go to New York City. Would you be able to get there? I doubt it. A map and a final destination are only useful when you can mark your starting point. Only then can you determine the best route or any route at all. Without knowing your starting point, you will be wandering aimlessly for a long time.
  • Set a Date - When you have a goal you MUST set a due date, a final date at which you will have reached your goal. When you do not have a solid date toward which to strive, you can easily get off track and always be reaching for that elusive “"someday.”" However, with a firm date in mind (and on paper), you will be far more likely to reach your goal. You can always change the date if need be, but have one to begin with.
  • Be Specific - You must be specific when setting goals. This includes the timeline. "I want to lose weight" is definitely not specific enough. "I want to lose around 40-50 pounds" is not specific enough either. "I want to lose 60 pounds by such-and-such a date" is specific.
  • Break it Down - If you have given yourself 6 months in which to lose the 60 pounds, then you might feel a little overwhelmed with the task. However, once you have a date set to reach the goal, then you will be able to break this goal down into manageable pieces of 10 pounds per month, which is 2 1⁄2 pounds per week. It seems less intimidating that way.
  • Visualize - This is an incredibly powerful part of goal-setting as well. Did you know that you can trick your brain by using your imagination? You see, your brain cannot tell the difference between something happening for real and something that has happened in your imagination. You will feel the same feelings either way and feelings are what drive us to action. When you imagine you have already achieved your goal, I mean really see yourself there and experience the emotions that go with that, you will have a much easier time actually reaching that goal. After all, your emotions are telling you that you have done it and this will spur you on to taking the right actions to make it happen.

You can do whatever you set your mind to. When you follow the Abs on the Go diet, your weight-loss goals will be more attainable than ever. Just remember to believe in yourself and work hard to attain your goals (the ones you wrote down) and you will be ready for that special day or that vacation you have planned or whatever lies ahead.

I will leave you with best wishes that you achieve everything you dream of in life. Not only your fitness goals, but in every aspect of your life. You deserve it and you will succeed!
