The firehose of data

In the time that has passed since I put together basic information on COVID-19 and the principles of epidemic spread, data about this disease and the virus that causes it has been accumulating at an unprecedented rate. How do we make sense of all this new information and use it most effectively to guide decision-making? I wrote a piece recently for the World Economic Forum with some ideas. The link is here.

One of the big challenges here is evaluating the data. Peer review, the usually slow, deliberative process by which science checks its facts and assumptions, is under immense pressure to get things right, quickly.
