Want to "wear" your baby? You're not alone. Baby carriers have
existed -- in one form or another -- for thousands of years. Baby

There's a reason for that, though:
- Convenience: you can meet your baby's needs and have
hands free to do other "stuff".
- Many carriers allow for discreet breastfeeding while on the go,
or in public.
- Some babies breastfeed better on the move
- Hands-free caring for older siblings, since they need your
attention too
- It can calms a fussy or colicky baby.
- Optimal learning opportunities: it encourages visual and
auditory alertness
- More exposure to language: It improves cognitive and speech
development
- It also increases bonding opportunities
Baby carriers come in a wide array of styles and different baby
positioning possibilities. Talk with other moms and "test drive"
baby carriers before you settle on a specific brand. There's plenty
to choose from, and it's very important that you purchase a carrier
that meets all of your needs.
Tips and Tricks:
- For winter-wear, use an overlarge coat (or reuse your maternity
coat). Zip it over both of you.

Make sure to keep two fingers between the chest and chin
- The higher up the baby is seated, the easier it will be on your
back
- Avoid dangling, or straight legs to minimize risk of hip
dysplasia
