Book Shelving/Pricing

-Banners for individual sections need to be set up on the walls, or at the very least, a temporary paper indicating where things go
- when opening boxes, try to catch books that are in the wrong section (particularly mystery that is accidentally placed in fiction).
- overflow copies of the same book should be placed in a box below the table
- helpful to put the books on the shelves only sorting by letter first, just to see how many books are in each section. Properly alphabetizing should be the second step.
- Pricing: ensure overflow boxes get pricing stickers

BOOK PRICING:

General Guidelines

  • These are prices that are fair for the buyer and will ensure profit for the school. They are based on what a new book or a used book costs elsewhere.
  • All this pricing is for books that are in good condition. If they aren't in good condition, then reduce it.
  • When working within a range, things to consider: How popular is this author? How recent is this book? What condition is the book in; How pretty is this book, and would this book make a good gift? Don't be afraid to price above the recommended range if you think the book will sell!
  • Very old books that don't seem likely to sell, whatever the category, can be priced at $1.
