Tap Into Government Contacts

Wherever you decide to launch your start-up, chances are that your country has government officials there that can help you develop and expand your business in that foreign country. A good place to start is the trade commissioner's office.

A trade commissioner's job is to promote international trade agreements and export trade programs on behalf of a national or regional government authority. As such, they are always interested in helping their own companies succeed. Although a trade commissioner may not be able to contribute much help financially, they can put you in touch with people who can and they can be your foot in the door in a competitive industry.

When your launching your business abroad, make meeting the local trade commissioner one of the first appointments on your schedule.
