This Subsection is concerned with modelling the energy performance of components, systems, and assemblies listed in the Prescriptive Requirements, as well as internal heat gains from occupants, lighting, and miscellaneous equipment. It also provides important definitions like the ones below:

Reference House - Hypothetical replica of the proposed house such that it is modelled with the same fuel sources, equipment, building shape, occupancy loads, base electric loads, climatic data, and operating schedule. All building components are the Prescribed Minimum the code will permit as established in 9.36.2. to 9.36.4 (Prescriptive Path).

Annual Energy Consumption - Modelled annual sum of service water heating and space-conditioning energy consumption of the proposed house design.

House Energy Target - Modelled annual energy consumption of the Reference House.
