This section applies to:
- Assemblies that separate conditioned space from unconditioned space, the exterior air, or the ground.
- Assemblies that separate a conditioned space from a storage garage, even if the storage garage is intended to be heated.
- Wall assemblies inclined by 60 degrees or more from horizontal.
- Assemblies that are less than 60 degrees from horizontal must meet the thermal requirements for roofs.
- Walls that build-up a skylight are to be factored into the overall thermal performance of the window they support, so they must meet the thermal requirements for windows.
Some of the the other requirements that are listed in this section are:
- How to test and measure the thermal characteristics of Materials, Components, and Assemblies?
- How to calculate Ceiling, Wall, Window and Door Areas?
- How to calculate Effective Thermal Resistance of Assemblies?
- How much Thermal Resistance is required to be Continuous around the building?
- Thermal Characteristics of the various Building Envelope components
