It is assumed the Proposed House is constructed as proposed in the Construction Specifications for:
- Area of the above-ground portion of the foundation walls
- Effective thermal resistance of above-ground walls, ceiling below attics, roof assemblies, rim-joists, below-ground walls, and slabs-on-ground
- Maximum overall thermal transmittance of doors
- Distribution, orientation, and area of windows and doors
- Solar heat gain and overall thermal transmittance values of windows
- Configuration of insulation in assemblies in contact with the ground (how is the footing, foundation, slab insulated?)
This section also lists some exceptions for small components of the building that are listed in the construction drawings, which do not need to be modelled.
It also explains other modelling assumptions for fixed shading, airtightness, thermal mass, and components separating conditioned spaces that enclose unconditioned spaces.
