Municipalities across Canada (and the world) have been passing Climate Emergencies and developing Climate Action Plans that outline actions they will undertake to enable them to achieve their greenhouse gas reductions targets. While the development and implementation of Climate Action Plans is extremely important in identifying the climate action opportunities within municipalities, climate has far reaching implications beyond actions often identified within Climate Action Plans. The need to address the climate implications of overall municipal decision making is one of the goals of a Municipal Climate Lens. It better enables municipal staff and council members to understand the connection between a proposed action or decision and how it affects climate (often focused on GHG emissions/climate mitigation) or how it is affected by climate (climate resilience/adaptation).
This Resource Hub aims to provide a one-stop shop for sharing of experiences and resources developed within the municipal sector. If you are able to provide experiences and resources from your municipality please contact Gabriella at gkalapos@cleanairpartnership.org
