"It is raining cats and dogs" sentence is a modo di dire, that is a metaphorical expression. It does not mean cats and dogs are throwed anywhere among clouds. Isn' it?

Obviously, modi di dire (literally: ways to say) are not the same in any languages and, of course, are very difficult to learn. It is better to learn them when the learners come thorugh them in an advanced level.
