All items should be dry, wiped, and drained of any oil to oil and liquid substances that may spill and damage the other items in the unit. Rusty metal items should also be separated or at least properly covered.
Nuts, bolts, hoses, and other small parts are best kept and labeled in plastic bags.
Many storage locations won't allow you to keep perishable, harmful, or combustible items in their units for the safety of customers and staff, so check first with the facility manager for advice on how to safely deal with these items.
