What happens:

• Fire runs out of fuel or air.
• Can lead to self-extinguishment.
• Can occur pre or post flashover.

When caused by limited ventilation - a high temp/fuel rich environment can persist.Introduction of air can result in rapid fire growth or rapid fire development (discussed later in this module).

Dangerous volatiles remain after fire (many carcinogenic), therefore PPE is critical during overhaul and clean up.
