I had just sold my business and was looking for my next adventure.

I didn't know what I was going to do but when the YMCA asked me to come speak to a group of their members who were starting new businesses, I eagerly said yes.

That one simple decision would forever change my life.

I loved the idea of helping others and felt I could use my knowledge to help this group of new entrepreneurs shortcut their path to success by learning from my story.

For the next month, I poured myself into it.

I wrote down all my best advice and turned it into a killer PowerPoint presentation.

The YMCA promoted it to their entrepreneurs and I sent it to the people I knew as well.

It was a free event and I don't know why I put some much effort into it, but I knew it was going to be a great event.

After a month of hard work, the day finally arrived.

I woke up excited and shot out of bed.

Over breakfast I reviewed my slides one last time to make sure everything I was saying was perfect… just the way I wanted it to be.
