Harness website analytics data to
improve your site's ability to convert visitors into
customers.
Use a heat map tool like Crazy
Egg or Hotjar to see how users interact with your website. What do
they click on most? What sections do they ignore?
These insights will help you
design your website to maximize its effectiveness.
Also, make sure to do the
following for a stellar website:
- State what your company does in clear, concise
language. If a user can't figure out what you do in a few
seconds, you risk losing their attention forever.
- Focus on value, not features. How can you improve your
customer's life? What value do you bring them? Can you help them do
better at their job? Feel more confident? Impress their friends or
colleagues? Make someone else happy? These emotional triggers can
be much more powerful than more static, technical features.
- Show, not tell. Reveal your amazing product through
graphics and less text if you can. It's much more powerful to see
something in action than to hear a canned description of it.
- Make sure there's alternate text to ensure solid SEO or provide
a way of contextualizing other content if your nifty images and
videos don't load
- Boost your cred. Do you have high-profile customers?
Ask if you can use their logos. Have you earned some good press
stories? Show which publications have featured you. Even better -
get a testimonial from a happy client. Social proof is essential
here.
- Consider every device. Ensure your site loads and is
optimized for all of the different devices a site visitor much use
to access the site. Given the how common mobile and tablet traffic
is for many sites, providing a beautifully responsive site (or at
least a mobile-optimized version of your site) is a critical step
toward making your message available.
