Do you want to make your Raspberry Pi into a media centre or do you want something more productive like a more traditional OS?

XBMC (or Raspbmc is the moniker for the Pi variant) is an amazing OS it works flawlessly with any piece of media particularly films.

Raspbian is a lot more like a conventional OS and is for those of us that want something productive like Windows but it is also the OS to go to for programming and general tinkering. Raspbian can be a very good learning tool.
