If you're stuck, here are a few
ways we try to unstick the discussion:
- Think of ways that your vision could be wildly successful, and
consider what that looks like. A pre-celebration, if you will. Then
consider if there are any new opportunities that could be viewed
more easily from that angle.
- Think of ways that your vision could be an abysmal failure and
identify what would cause that to happen. Now identify ways to
create potential workarounds and determine if there is business
value there that users might be interested in.
- Take all of the features and road map ideas that are currently
on the table that you feel very firmly should be there, and remove
them. What would you do instead? Could this be done at the same
time as that feature?
- Steal. The best creatives find inspiration everywhere. Just be
sure you know how to arrive at your unfair advantages as well to
stay competitive.
- Get out of the building! Talk to early adopters. Find out what
they like, what they don't like, what makes them tick! Or bring
them in for an interview with the whole team so everyone can
directly hear their thoughts.
