A form of dental cost sharing in a dental insurance plan that requires the member to pay a fixed dollar amount for each visit to a dentist or for a specific service. This fee is pre-set; it will be specified in your dental insurance policy. It also may be listed on your dental insurance card.
- Office Visit Co-pay: Many DHMO plans include an office visit co-pay. This co-pay must be paid for each dental office visit in addition to the co-pay charged for any specific dental treatment. For example, if your DHMO plan has a $10 office visit co-pay and you go to the dentist for a teeth cleaning that has no co-pay, you will be responsible for paying the $10 office visit co-pay at the time of service.
