Core Concepts

The Guides platform uses the following core concepts for organizing information and people:

Type of journeys

Individual journey - Home: is a place just for you, a place to come back to or start a new journey. Curate an overview of your favourite spaces or host your own. Here you can find all your favourite and archived guides, and the people you follow and organisations you're part of. In your Home you have access to everything about you on Guides. The public information in your Home forms your public profile.

Organisation: An organisation is an account for a group of people, for example a business, NGO, or municipality. There are two types of organisations on guides, Public (free) and private (Teams). Public organisations focus figuring stuff out together with the wider community. For private organisation the focus is on open collaboration within your organisation. An organisation can host different types of Spaces: public (anyone interested), open (organisation only), or private (invite only).

Where the work is done

A Space: This is the place to figure out a topic together. In a space you capture and share learnings in a guide, post your thoughts in the journal or join a campfire to meet other contributors. Spaces can be made public, open or private. A space can be part of just your organisation, or shared across multiple organisations.

A Guide: Guides (which you're looking at now) are live, interactive, multimedia documents that can be published, shared, and updated. A guide is always part of at least 1 space (in which it was created) but can be added to unlimited other spaces, while all still being the same 'live' document.
