Creating a comfortable indoor environment for building occupants, in the heating and cooling season is the primary goal for any high-performance construction.
What is comfort? A building should consistently provide:
30 m3 per hour per person of fresh air (about 18 cfm)
A difference of no more than 4 degrees Celsius (7.2 degrees F) from head to ankle.
Indoor temperature of 21 degrees Celsius (70 degrees F)
Relative humidity of 50% (at 21 degrees)
Floor temperature between 19 and 29 degrees Celsius (68 - 84 degrees F)
Little difference in temperature from wall to floor, and in front of openings.
