Some speeches require either than questions be allowed during
the speech or that there is a question and answer session
immediately after the prepared remarks.
Here are some guidelines for handling questions:
- Make it clear up front if questions will be entertained during
the presentation or if there will be time after the formal
presentation for discussion.
- Call on people in order that they raise their hands, if that is
how people indicate they have a question.
- Always try to address a question, even if it seems off-topic or
if you don't have a ready answer. You can always promise to get the
needed information and supply it to whomever asked the
question.
- Don't be afraid to pause and collect your thoughts before
asking a tough question.
