Write Your Section Intros

You know how those pesky high school teachers or professors in college always told you to write your intro and conclusion last? They're kinda right. Not entirely, but when it comes to Guides, you may want to write those headers last, too.

Sections, also referred to as groupings by our users, should provide a very specific type of content for your readers. Sections should never provide detailed information or processes; instead, sections should provide an overview of what's to come in the following pages grouped within it. Sections should also explain who would benefit from the information within the pages, why a reader should read it, and what the outcome will be if a reader does, in fact, read the content.

The types of information provided in a section:

  1. a
  2. b
  3. c

Now that you know what should be in a section, and why the information is conveyed in this particular manner, let's revisit our very own Guide. Below you can see exactly how we write our Sections at Guides using the DISTILL process.
