Burn Treatment

The skin of a child is very sensitive, and burns can happen easily from hot water or other liquids. Treatment of burns depends upon the severity of the burn itself, and severe burns will require medical attention right away.

When treating burns, step one is to remove any clothing from the burned area. Ensure that the clothing is not stuck to the burned skin before removing. Run the burn under cool water, making sure the water is not TOO cold, as this can shock the skin.

Apply a gauze bandage and offer ibuprofen for the pain. Do not break any blisters or sores that have formed.
