Most organic gardening is going to be done in the sun. There are decorative shade plants and small flowering trees that grow well in little light but you can't get eggplants in 3 hours of sunlight per day.
When plotting, take note of areas that get the most sun. This is where you want to grow vegetables and most flowers. 6 hours or more of direct sunlight. If you have potted plants indoors, especially herbs, leafy greens, and fruiting plants like tomatoes, make sure to have them by multiple windows or supplemented with artificial light.
If your garden gets full sunlight all day, it will need to be watered once per day.
