Tips to hooking your customer:

  1. Your app should be fun and/or entertaining. Keep the customer glued to the screen.
  2. Make your app intuitive. Apps that are simple and easy to use are more successful than those that are complicated to use.
  3. Make your app engaging. This can be accomplished by creating daily rewards or offers that entice customers to come back each day.
  4. An app should be valuable to the consumer. Whether it is entertainment focused, or designed to make an every day task easier, every app can be valuable to a customer.
  5. Cross-Cultural. Appeal to the largest audience possible,
  6. Invest time on the quality of your app's graphics & sounds.
  7. Be viral. People like to share what they are doing with friends. Even better, viral word of mouth can drive large amounts of traffic to your app.

In the first 30 seconds, consumers decide whether your app is valuable or not. In the end, it comes down to the quality of the content, usability of the app, and if the app is valuable to the customer. Track the amount of time that people spend in your app, and continue tweaking and improving your app to get the average first time experience to be over 30 seconds long.
