How To Market Without It Feeling Like Marketing

One of the things that you'll often hear in the entrepreneurial crowd is that people don't want to "be" a marketer. They don't want to feel like the snake oil salesman and have to push their wares onto unsuspecting people. If you feel this way too, know that it's normal BUT in order to make your business a success, you'll need to readjust your perspective on marketing.

Marketing is simply communicating out an idea, product or service to people who have not yet heard about this idea, product or service. It is the use of various media to relay your message and allow prospective clients and customers to make educated buying decisions. It is also the simple understanding of who your ideal customer is, what it is they need and want the most and how you can fulfill that want and need.

The art of marketing doesn't need to feel skeevy or over the top. In fact, having simple conversations around what it is that you do is considered marketing. Any time that you demonstrate the benefits of your product or service to a prospect, you are in fact doing marketing. Think back to the last conversation you had about your business and remember how that conversation felt to you. Did it feel authentic? If so, you were marketing your business in alignment with who you are as a person.

Marketing shouldn't feel like marketing. Marketing should feel like conversation and it should be done in the same way that you would converse with someone you were close to. This book will take you through some of the methods we've used to market various information products but remember - these are simply processes. It is your goal to put your own authentic spin on whatever it is you are doing.
