Once your website is in order, the next place to focus your attention is on your social media profiles. Be sure to setup a profile on each of the popular sites (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Google+) and extend your brand out to each of these sites. Look for opportunities to link to things you already have in place, such as your website or store, and incorporate a consistent message across all platforms.
After you get situated, it is time to build your following on each of these platforms. The key here is not to just go crazy getting people to follow you and friend you but rather select people to have conversations with and nurture the relationships. Social media is not about the number of people you have following you but rather the engagement that is happening on those sites.
