Generating buzz for your upcoming information product is going to be key in having a succesful launch. In order to have lots of your info product fly off of your virtual shelves on the day it is released, you need to take some decisive action steps first.
Before we explore those steps though, let me tell you of an alternative to the planned out method. While planning and taking decisive action will yield you the best results, sometimes you might be inspired to create an e-book on a whim. Other times, you may have a lot of other stuff happening in your business that overshadows the launch of a new information product. In these cases, it is okay to not plan a huge launch and rather just release it simply.
When I personally create information product, I don't tend to make a big deal out of the release of my new product. I save the big launches, with a lot of touch points with my audience, for the bigger products: the group coaching programs, one-on-one coaching, etc. I find that my list doesn't like to hear from me too often so I try to be mindful about how many things I am creating and producing. When the spontaneous e-book happens, I simply create it, get a graphic made for it, add it to my site and sell it. I may or may not do a presale period for the e-book.
When you aren't creating information product regularly and your upcoming information product is going to be a big deal for you and your business, it's a great idea to plan out a launch strategy.
Note: throughout these steps, we often refer to "e-book" as the focal point. If you are looking to plan out your marketing for an audio program, an e-course or any other information product, just swap out the word "e-book" for your info-product of choice.
