ExpressionEngine is another highly popular CMS platform. It has a free-to-use version, but for the fully featured version of ExpressionEngine there is a licence fee. An upside to ExpressionEngine though is the ability for an organization to have dedicated support from the company that manages the platform at an additional cost.

ExpressionEngine took a unique approach to content and types of content by means of "channels". Channels are defined as a "type of thing".
