Training Pants/Underwear

Some parents may start potty training with diapers and just remove diapers when the child sits on the potty. Pull-Ups or training pants are a step up from diapers and go on and off like underwear which helps transition children from diapers to underwear. However many parents prefer to only use them at night and avoid them during the day because they are absorbent and children may tend to use them like diapers which can slow down the potty training process.

If you're taking potty training slow and not in a rush, you may want to start with Pull-Ups/training pants to get your child accustomed to pulling them on and off and gradually move to underwear. Going straight to underwear can help your child potty train quicker but be forewarned. There will be accidents and it will be messy.

Whether you choose to go straight to underwear or gradually phase them in, find underwear that will appeal to your child. Perhaps Spiderman or Dora for your little boy or girl. You may want to take them shopping with you and have them pick out their big boy and big girl underpants.
