them.
As your promotional campaign becomes more sophisticated, you'll
turn to analytics to evaluate how it did an plan the next
thing.
Things To Look For In Google Analytics
Watch your unique visitors and page views with Google Analytics.
If it grows, you'll have an interested user base that will be open
to learning more about your Guide.
Here are a few stats/options you should be tracking in Google
Analytics:
- Traffic growth: From the left, click Audience
> Overview from the left to see a day-by-day graph of the
traffic over the last 30 days
- Bounce Rate: this is another statistic given
on the overview page. A bounce rate is the percentage of clicks
that hit a page and leave right after. Ideally 50-60% is fairly
standard. If the page is being linked to from social media it may
be higher.
- Visitor Flow: From the left, click Audience
> Visitor Flow. This shows the most common routes visitors take
as they navigate through your site.
- Real-Time: From the left, click Real-time >
Overview (or Locations) to see who's currently on your site.
- Social Sharing: From the left, click on
Traffic Sources > Social > Network Referrals to know which
social networks get most of your content.
- Always compare: on any report page, you can
click on the date in the top right corner and check the "Compare
to" box to compare to a past data set and see how you're
improving.
