What Is A Persona/Voice?

While the terms "persona" and "voice" are often used interchangeably, they have two very distinct meanings. The easiest way to remember the difference is by considering the little picture andthe big picture. Personas are the little picture, the individual personalities of your blog (authors). Voice is the overall tone, style and message of your blog.

In the last section, we talked about deciding what you want your blog to be known for by building a keyword list. Now you have to decide what you (and your co- authors, if applicable) want to be known for.

Examples:

Lisa Barone, Co-Founder of Outspoken Media, has an honest, upfront persona. She is known for her outspoken (note the company name) blogging personality. The voice of the Outspoken Media blog, which an entire team contributes to, is laid back, helpful and sometimes controversial. Consistency in both persona(s) and voice is the key to successful branding.
