Animals & Insects

When rodents, insects, birds or bats make their way into buildings, the mess they leave behind may create some serious problems.

  • Spores from animal droppings: when animals infest areas in a building, they may leave droppings or 'guano' that will dry and give off dust and spores when disturbed. Some of these particles may contain bacteria that could lead to respiratory and neurological disorders, such as toxoplasmosis.
  • Infestation: If animals or insects can make their way into the walls, roof assembly or foundation spaces of a building, they can make a mess of insulation, wiring and other important parts of a home. Infestation of some insects, like termites and carpenter ants may actually lead to structural damage.
  • Disease: Rodents and birds may carry disease that spreads to humans or domestic animals like cats and dogs. Pay special attention to areas around a foundation or roof structure where animals can gain access.
