The above photos provide an example of how to properly install vapour retarder and/or air barrier for a corner of a wall system.

Step 1: Wrap polyethylene around the corner by cutting a slice to allow it to spread. This will leave an area open.

Step 2: Use an approved tape or add a second piece of polyethylene to fill in the gap in the polyethylene.

Step 3: Add enough material to close the opening.

Step 4: Seal with acoustical and staple in place to maintain a long term seal.

In the example above, extra acoustical was added with a small piece of poly and then tape to secure it in place until the drywall is installed.
