Homeowner Question: Why is there condensation on my windows after my insulation was upgraded?
Cause: Why is this happening?
Upgrading the insulation and re-installing, or fixing the air barrier, has caused the home to become more air-tight, which means more moisture stays within the home. This may cause increased condensation on windows.
Solution: Ventilation
If the home has an HRV it may need to be re-balanced or changed to a more appropriately sized unit
If the home owner does not have an HRV, they may now want to consider one (Technically they could open the windows, but this is inefficient, especially in the winter)
