8.1. Current Situation

There needs to be better connectivity and integration of industry input into government and utility objectives. While program impacts have generally been positive, they haven't necessarily worked as well as they might have, and have had some unintended consequences, including added time and cost for contractors. Programs, policies, and bylaws need better technical/product criteria, installation standards, specifications, and quality assurance. There is no systematic approach to getting and actually using industry input, and keeping the industry up to date on developments and changes.

On the industry side, individuals and companies must be willing to provide this input to Utilities and Government.
