Located in Ottawa, SCC has a 13-member Governing Council and a staff of approximately 112. It reports to Parliament through the Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (link is external).

The SCC leads and facilitates the development and use of national and international standards and accreditation services in order to enhance Canada's competitiveness and well-being.
