Polyolefin barriers are made of plastic fibres that are woven into a fabric, sold in rolls and applied to the exterior of buildings as a 'house wrap'. The fabric is stapled to the exterior sheathing using cap-staples and tape at seams.
NOTE: Housewrap is also known as: WRB - water / weather resistant barrier
Important Considerations for Spun Polyolefin / WRB Installations:
Pay special attention to manufacturers installation instructions, using proper fasteners and appropriate tapes and sealants.
Broad coverage is possible with this material and a tight barrier may be easy to achieve with purposeful and careful installation.
May act as part of 'rain screen' assembly with strapping and vented cladding.
Be careful to protect the material from prolonged exposure to weather (wind and sun), to avoid damage and deterioration before cladding is installed.
