When the air is heavily laden with moisture, we say that the humidity is high - you can feel the moisture in the air in almost every season. The temperature of the air has a great effect on how much moisture it can hold.
The amount of water (humidity) that air is holding related to its temperature is relative humidity. At any given temperature, air can hold a certain amount of water vapour. The maximum amount is the absolute humidity (100% saturation).
REMEMBER:
The warmer the air, the more moisture it can hold.
The cooler the air, the less moisture it can hold.
The ideal indoor temperature and relative humidity for humans?
20 degrees Celsius (68 Fahrenheit)
45 - 55 % relative humidity.
The Psychrometric chart below maps out temperature and relative humidity levels.
