The 5 Golden Rules Of LinkedIn

We'll explore these rules in more detail as the guide goes on, but here are the 5 golden rules of LinkedIn that you want to keep in mind as you move from task to task:

  1. Make sure your profile is 100% complete - LinkedIn has a handy little progress bar on the right hand side of the screen showing you how complete your profile is - and what you can do to complete it if it isn't. While we'll make sure to optimize your profile and complete all these requirements, if some of the basics aren't done, you could choose to complete it all right now and make it better later on through this guide.
  2. Connect with everyone - You'll want to make sure you solidify your authority and business opportunities by having a huge network! There is a trick to this - you can't invite more than a limited number of people to connect on LinkedIn, however, you can accept and almost unlimited number of connections. So, if someone invites you to connect on LinkedIn, do it!
  3. Endorse and recommend others - the best way to get endorsements and recommendations - which will make your profile stand out and maintain authority - is to give some out at first. You don't necessarily want to ask for them, but giving them out will ensure that those people give them back to you in return.
  4. Create Your Own LinkedIn Group - Make sure you create your own LinkedIn Group in order to establish influence in your industry, drive more traffic to your site, and generate more leads for your business.
  5. Optimize Your Profile For Search - Just like you'd optimize your site for Google rankings, you'll want to optimize your profile to come up in LinkedIn's search.
