Moisture Control

Involves 4 strategies:

  • Producing less moisture indoors (Control the Source)
  • Exhausting excess indoor moisture (Ventilation)
  • Using construction techniques and building materials that keep moisture away from the structure
  • Treat the indoor air (Dehumidification/air conditioning)

In order to produce less moisture indoors, it is usually necessary to make lifestyle changes which are not always desirable or practical.

Therefore, exhausting excess moisture is usually the more practical alternative. This will mean some sort of mechanical exhaust, ventilation system, or both may be required.
