Batt Insulation Types

Glass Fibre

  • One of the most common Batts used for insulating
  • Produced from glass fibre or flexible fibres
  • High insulation value
  • Very absorbent and degrades when wet
  • Fire resistant
  • Sound absorption properties
  • Contains upwards of 60% recycled glass, depending upon the manufacturer and the specific facility

Rock/slag Fibre

  • Retains heat and traps air, also allows moisture to escape
  • Non combustible and fire resistant
  • High water repellency
  • Higher insulation value than glass fibre
  • Does not degrade
  • Sound absorption properties, creates a natural sound barrier
  • Uses a minimum of 70 - 85 % blast furnace slag, with the remaining volume of raw materials being natural rock
