Advantages:

• Polyethylene acts as both the air barrier and vapour retarder using standard materials and conventional building techniques
• Familiar to most trades
• Can reduce/block entry of air pollutants from the wall cavity

Considerations:

• Cannot withstand wind pressures or form part of a pressure-equalized rain screen system
• May not always survive construction abuse
• Not easily repaired over life of building (because it is hidden behind the drywall)
