Ensure
That:
- All penetrations have been
properly sealed
- Dampproofing is in place on the
exterior
- There are no cracks which may
allow water penetration
- The area is clean and
dry
- Verify that framing is not in
direct contact with concrete
- Check hard to reach areas
requiring insulation/sealing such as tight joist spaces or boxed
off cavities
- Stepped off studs provide
adequate cavity depth for requested insulation
- Moisture barrier is in place to
separate insulation from foundation wall ( In some cases the
insulator is required to install this)
Dampproofing:
- A material that repels water
used on the exterior below-grade foundation walls
- A spray applied or mop/roller
applied bituminous material is used
- The material fills cracks and
pores in the concrete so that liquid cannot enter
Moisture Barrier:
- Moisture barriers are used to
keep moisture from penetrating a foundation wall or
floor
- Used only
below-grade
- Moisture barrier
materials:
- Paint or spray applied asphalt
emulsions
- Foundation membranes designed
specifically for below-grade moisture protection
