Ensure:

• Adequate depth for the required R-value
• Adequate access is available for installing insulation
• Floor joists and rim joists are free of rot or other damage
• Any installed duct work will not prevent the installation of insulation

Note:

Insulating headers with glass fibre batts and sealing headers with polyethylene is very difficult and a better option is to use rigid board insulation instead of polyethylene, with expanding foam to seal the rigid board insulation in place.
