Wires that penetrate through the
polyethylene air barrier will need to be sealed with acoustical
and/or approved tape
Wires should ideally always
penetrate wood framing or backing to ensure better air sealing and
durability
Wires that penetrate in wood
wall studs, or top and bottom plates, need to be sealed using
expanding foam or acoustical sealant supported by an approved
tape
Using only acoustical sealant
without tape is not permitted as it is required to be sandwiched
between two materials
