Safety Requirements Within Floor Areas
- Except as provided in Sentences (2) to (6), the requirements of Section 3.3. shall apply. (See Note A-3.9.3.1.(1).)
- Not more than one dwelling unit is permitted to be contained within one of the self-service storage buildings on a property.
- A dwelling unit referred to in Sentence (2) shall be separated from individual self-service storage units by a fire separation having a fire-resistance rating not less than 2 h.
- Where an office notmore than 50m2 in area is adjacent to a dwelling unit referred to in Sentence (2), it shall be considered as part of the dwelling unit.
- Fire separations required by Sentences 3.3.1.1.(1) and 3.3.5.9.(1) need not be provided between individual self-service storage units.
- The floor area of self-service storage buildings shall be
- subdivided into compartments not more than 500 m2 in area by a fire separation having a fire-resistance rating not less than 1 h, or
- sprinklered. (See also Sentence 3.4.6.12.(2) for the exemption applying to exit doors of individual self-service storage units.)
