"We are what we repeatedly do.
Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit." - Aristotle
So far in this Guide we've looked at all online solutions to
manage your productivity. The list has been extensive but that
doesn't mean it covers everything. What you do OFFLINE is also very
important when it comes to getting things done in the short amount
of time you have to do them each day.
Here are some
other tips for things you can do in your daily life to stay
focused, on-track and stress free:
- Learn to Say No
- Wanting to get along with, and please people, is a natural
human quality, but sometimes the desire to help ends up taking much
more time than anticipated. Take charge of your time and be
realistic with what you have the bandwidth to accomplish. If you
don't respect your own time, how can you expect other people to?
Just say no.
- Manage Your Mind
- We only have so much energy to use in a day. Like a gas tank,
once it's empty, we need to refuel (aka sleep). But managing your
energy isn't just physical, there's also a huge mental component to
it. Similar to sleep cycles, each person has their own unique
rhythms that continue throughout the day. It's important to pay
attention to when you're the most alert and plan your most
challenging tasks for that time. A true strategy for
productivity!
- Take Care of Yourself
- For any engine to run properly, it needs to be properly cared
for and maintained. Your body is no different. Eating well,
exercising often and getting a good nights sleep are important when
it comes to maximizing productivity. You know yourself the best, so
be aware of your limits and advocate for yourself when need
be.
